Share the Love of Your Commute This February
RideFinders News
February is the month of love, and this year we’re inviting you to share the love of your commute by making travel choices that benefit your wallets, your community, and the environment.
Valentine’s Day is a reminder to care for the people in our lives and the communities we call home. Choosing a shared or sustainable commute is one way to show that care in action.
February also includes National Make a Friend Day (February 11) and Random Acts of Kindness Day (February 17) which are both perfect reminders that ridesharing and sustainable commuting connect people and strengthen communities.
When you choose to share the ride or try a new commute option, everyone benefits. We invite you and employers alike to participate in this month’s campaign and help build stronger commuting habits that last beyond February.
Record your green trips such as carpooling, vanpooling, taking transit, biking, walking, or teleworking, try something new, and share your experience with the community. Each recorded trip represents a small change that adds up to meaningful impact like reducing transportation costs, easing traffic congestion, and improving air quality across the region.
Use the hashtag #ShareTheCommuteLove when posting about your commute choices, carpool partners, vanpool stories, transit rides, or telework wins this month.
Ways to Share the Love of Your Commute
Try one or more of these simple actions this month:
- Record green commute trips in the ConnectingVA app
- Try carpooling or vanpooling with a co-worker
- Take transit one or more days per week
- Telework when possible
- Walk or bike for short trips
- Encourage a friend or co-worker to explore new commuting options
- Use the commute cost calculator to see potential savings
Even small changes can make a big difference when they’re done consistently.
Love Your Wallet, Too
Green commute options can significantly reduce monthly transportation expenses. Sharing the ride or choosing transit helps save on fuel, parking, and vehicle wear and tear which makes February a great time to rethink commuting habits.
Track your progress, build sustainable routines, and see the impact of your choices over time.
