Every day, commuters across the Greater Richmond Region are making choices that save money, reduce stress, improve their health, and create a more sustainable community. Whether you’re carpooling with co-workers, serving as a vanpool coordinator, taking transit, biking to work, teleworking, or combining several transportation options, your experience could inspire someone else to rethink their commute.
That’s why we’re launching Commute Champion Spotlight—a new opportunity to recognize and celebrate commuters throughout our region. We’re looking for commuters willing to share how they travel to work and the impact their commute choices have had on their daily lives. Your story could be featured on our website, in our Greener Moves newsletter, or across our social media channels.
Don’t want to spotlight yourself? You can nominate a co-worker, friend, family member, or fellow commuter whose story deserves to be shared. We welcome nominations from employers, coworkers, and community members who know someone making a difference through their commute choices.
The best part? You don’t have to write a story.
We know you’re busy, so we’ve made participating simple. Our quick Commute Champion Spotlight Form takes about two minutes to complete. Just answer a few easy questions—or nominate someone else—and our team will take care of the writing.
We’ll ask things like:
- How do you typically commute?
- What inspired you to change the way you travel?
- What’s the biggest benefit you’ve experienced?
- What advice would you give someone considering a new commute?
You can even share a photo of yourself, your carpool, vanpool, bike, or favorite part of your commute, but photos are completely optional.
Sometimes, all it takes is hearing from someone with a similar commute to encourage another person to try something new. Your experience could help a co-worker discover carpooling, encourage a neighbor to try transit, or inspire someone to explore a greener way to travel.
