May Is Bike Month: Count It. Change It. with Every Ride
RideFinders News
May is Bike Month, and it’s the perfect time to rethink your commute, save money, and make a positive impact on our region. Whether you’re riding to work, running errands, or just enjoying the outdoors, every trip you take by bike is a step toward cleaner air, less congestion, and more money in your pocket.
Bike Month isn’t about perfection. Bike Month is about progress. Even one bike trip a week can lead to meaningful savings, improved health, and a stronger, more sustainable community. We’re inviting you to Count It. Change It. by making biking part of your routine one trip at a time.
Follow us on social media: stay updated on Bike Month tips, events, and inspiration. Invite us to your workplace or event: we can share biking and commuter solutions with your team.
Save Money. Ride Smart.
Choosing to bike instead of driving even once or twice a week can lead to real savings. With rising gas prices, parking costs, and vehicle maintenance expenses, biking offers a low-cost (or no-cost) solutions that adds up quickly.
Short trips are often the easiest to replace. That quick run to the store or your commute to a nearby office? Try swapping it for a bike ride and start seeing the savings.
Count It: Record Your Trips. Ride. Record. Win.
Every ride matters! When you track it, you can see your impact grow. RideFinders is proud to partner with the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation to encourage commuters across the Commonwealth to ride, record, and celebrate greener trips throughout May.
Commuters who record their bike-to-work trips in ConnectingVA platform between May 1, 2026, and May 31, 2026, will automatically be entered for a chance to win exciting prizes, including:
- One of two $500 gift cards
- One of two $250 gift cards
Every eligible bike commute trip logged helps support cleaner air, healthier communities, and a more sustainable transportation future while also giving participants more chances to win.
The Bike Month challenge ends at midnight on May 31, 2026. Winners will be selected at random and contacted by email on June 3, 2026. Selected winners must respond within three business days to accept the prize and agree to allow their name, photo, and likeness to be shared by DRPT.
If a selected winner does not respond within the required timeframe, an alternate winner will be chosen.
Please note: Employees of DRPT, staff of transit agencies or commuter assistance programs funded by the Commonwealth of Virginia, and their immediate family members are not eligible to participate.
Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible bike commute trips recorded. All applicable federal, state, and local laws apply.
By logging your bike trips in the ConnectingVA platform, you can:
- Track your personal savings
- Measure reduced miles and emissions
- Contribute to regional impact data
- Stay motivated to keep going
It’s simple: ride, record, watch your impact add up, and win!
