Inspiring the Next Generation During Career Day

Inspiring the next generation! Recently, Brigitte visited Southampton Elementary School for Career Day. She shared insights into her job through an engaging talk and a FUN bus tour. Transit serves as the lifeblood of urban mobility, connecting people to work, school, and leisure activities. While adults frequently utilize public transportation, inspiring the next generation of transit riders—our kids—is equally crucial for the sustainability and efficiency of transportation systems.

Encouraging children to embrace transit from a young age cultivates environmentally conscious habits that can last a lifetime. GRTC Transportation Supervisor, Dillon, showed students how to use the bike racks, how to exit the bus in case of emergency and talked with them about his career in transit. Comprehensive transit information plays a pivotal role in facilitating children’s engagement with public transportation. Accessible resources, such as route maps, schedules, and how to ride guides, equip kids with the knowledge they need to navigate transit systems confidently. Moreover, educational programs and interactive tools tailored to young audiences make learning about public transit engaging and enjoyable, sparking curiosity and fostering a lifelong interest in transportation.

By fostering an early appreciation for transit and providing comprehensive transit information, we empower children to become informed and environmentally-focused citizens.
