KickStart Your Carpool

The Kick$tart Your Carpool program is a pilot program designed to encourage starting or joining new carpools. Each carpooler will be eligible for $50 per month when they record eight (8) roundtrip carpool work commutes each month on their trip calendar. A carpool consists of two or more people (including the driver) sharing the ride together in a vehicle to and from work. The enrollment period for the program is January 1, 2024 – April 15, 2024: Log in or Sign Up. Need a carpool partner - find one here!

When a participant records the required number of carpool work commutes each month during the 90-day period for 6 months, the participant can earn the maximum incentive for each 90-day reporting period of $150. There will be two 90-day reporting periods for this program totaling $300. Reward redemptions (payouts) will be distributed on April 4, 2024 and August 5, 2024 while program funds are available. Carpoolers must be 18 years of age for eligibility.

New Carpooler Eligibility: 
• Must be a new or existing ConnectingVA member (carpooler) or a registered drive alone commuter switching to carpooling.
• Member must live or work in the RideFinders service area: Ashland, Charles City, Chesterfield, Goochland, Hanover, Henrico, New Kent, Powhatan, Richmond, Amelia, Colonial Heights, Hopewell, Petersburg, Dinwiddie, or Prince George.
• Only two persons per household are eligible to receive the incentive during the program year, while funding is available.
• Must be 18 years of age or older to receive incentive for work commutes.
• New carpoolers must not have used an alternative commute mode (i.e., vanpool, transit) prior to registering for Kick$tart Your Carpool.

How to Register: View Steps to Enroll in the program.
• Create a member account or log in into account.
• Register as a carpooler. Carpools must have at least two (2) carpoolers. Non-licensed child passengers do not constitute a carpool and thus do not qualify for the incentive.
• Enroll in the program by selecting the “Kick$tart Your Carpool” reward from the “Featured” category in the “Rewards” section.
• Member must have a valid email.
• Member must have an organization entered in their profile.
• Member must have a phone number entered with text enabled.
• Member must have a supervisor contact information entered in their account.
• Member must have a photo uploaded in their account.
• Select "Redeem” once all information has been entered.
• Answer survey questions and complete redemption.
• Start recording your carpool commute trips.

How it Works:
• Log in to your account.
• Record eight (8) roundtrip carpool work commutes per month on your trip calendar. Carpoolers must record commutes to be eligible.
• Carpools must have at least two (2) carpoolers and both have a ConnectingVA account.
• Participants must record their carpool work commutes for the month by 11:59 p.m. on the last working day of the month.
• Participants may set carpool commutes as recurring.
• Reward redemptions (payouts) will be distributed on April 4, 2024 and August 5, 2024.
• Payout amounts are based on meeting the trip recording requirements of eligibility: $150 per 90-day recording period. Payouts for the months of January through March will be calculated on April 4, 2024 and distributed to participants no later than April 24, 2024. Payouts for the months of April through June will be calculated on August 5, 2024 and distributed to participants no later than August 23, 2024. Participants can earn a maximum of $150 per payout, for a total maximum payout of $300.
• Payouts will be provided electronically via Tango Card, which can be redeemed for gift cards from hundreds of national retailers, as a visa gift card, or donated to a charity such as (St. Jude, UNICEF, Red Cross, etc.). Tango cards will be emailed to qualifying participants no later than 14 business days from the end of the quarterly period. Check your junk and spam email.

The program also rewards existing, registered carpoolers with a one-time $50 bonus reward for carpooling if they add a new carpool rider and record at least eight (8) roundtrip carpool work commutes each month during a 60-day reporting period.
