Celebrate Air Quality Awareness Week

Every May, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) hosts Air Quality Awareness Week (AQAW) to share information on air quality and how it affects health. This year, Air Quality Awareness Week is May 1 - 5, 2023. RideFinders will share resources from our air quality partners including the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality and Clean Air Partners.

The theme for this year is, “Working Together for Clean Air.” Air Quality Awareness Week highlights resources that increase air quality awareness and encourage people to take action and incorporate air quality knowledge into their daily living. The week also includes World Asthma Day on Tuesday, May 2nd.

The topics for AQAW 2023 are:
• Monday, May 1st – Wildfires and Smoke
• Tuesday, May 2nd – Asthma and Your Health
• Wednesday, May 3rd – Air Quality and Transportation
• Thursday, May 4th – Air Quality and Climate
• Friday, May 5th – Participatory Science

Here are ways you can help the Central Virginia region during Air Quality Awareness Week and during the summer months:
• Download the Clean Air Fact Sheet.
• Take the Air Quality Awareness Pledge.
• Take "greener" trips - carpool, vanpool, bike, walk, transit, telework!
• Record your “green” trips to show how you help reduce emissions.
• Like, comment, and follow us on social media: Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
