Get Ready for Air Quality Awareness Week May 2 - 6, 2022
Apr 26, 2022
Every May, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) hosts Air Quality Awareness Week (AQAW) to share information on air quality and how it affects health. This year, Air Quality Awareness Week is May 2 - 6, 2022. RideFinders will share resources from our air quality partners including the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality and Clean Air Partners.
Air quality awareness is more than just understanding the Air Quality Index (AQI) forecast that utilizes the color code system. Air quality awareness includes education about the importance of the air quality forecasts and their direct relation to health impacts will make the difference between allowing children outside to play during Code Orange air quality days or reducing exposure by simply rescheduling an activity for a time when air quality is expected to be better.
Here are ways you can help the Central Virginia region during Air Quality Awareness Week and during the summer months:
- Download the Clean Air Fact Sheet.
- Take the Air Quality Awareness Pledge.
- Record your “green” trips – carpool, vanpool, bike, walk, transit, telework – to show how you help reduce emissions.
- Follow us on social media: Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
